New hospital board members at Avera St. Luke’s
Four new members are now part of Avera St. Luke’s Board of Directors: Sister JoAnn Sturzl of Dell Rapids, Mike Evans, Thomas Luzier, MD, and Tage Born, MD, all of Aberdeen .
Sister JoAnn is presently serving as a personality and human relationships educator. She has served as president and vice president of the Presentation Sisters, director of patient care, head nurse at St. Luke’s and McKennan hospitals, nurse supervisor, and in pastoral care in parishes. She has been a member of the corporate board of Presentation Health Systems and served as a board member for Holy Rosary and St. Luke’s hospitals.
Evans is founder and CEO of Centennial Homes in Aberdeen , one of the largest manufactured homes dealerships in the Midwest . He attended South Dakota State University and graduated from Northern State with a business degree and psychology minor. His leadership experience includes being president and a board member of South Dakota Manufactured Housing Association and Northeast Regional Health & Fitness Center . He is the incoming president of the Northern State University Foundation.
Dr. Luzier, an allergy specialist, has been on Avera St. Luke’s medical/dental staff since 1987. He is a graduate of the University of Kansas School of Medicine. He has served on Avera St. Luke’s Medical Executive Committee, Quality Assessment Committee, where he serves as chair; Program and Library Committee, Credentials Committee, and as president of the medical staff in 1997.
Dr. Born has worked as an obstetrician/gynecologist in Aberdeen for the last 14 years. She has served on Avera St. Luke’s medical/dental staff committees, including the Bylaws and Credential Committee. She is a member of the Family Medicine/OB/GYN/Pediatrics section at Avera St. Luke’s.
Outgoing board members are Dorothy O’Keefe, Dennis Hagny, Dr. Susan Ramig and Sister Deb Nelson.
Dr. James L. Bain, DVM, has been elected chairman, and Stuart Lonning is now vice chairman.
