Patients served by Avera St. Luke’s Home Health of Aberdeen gave such high scores on recent surveys that the organization received a 99 percent ranking for overall satisfaction, an all-time high for the department.
Home Health team members are being recognized on Wednesday, Nov. 28, at a special event at Avera St. Luke’s to celebrate this achievement. Their high rating for outstanding service puts Home Health ahead of 99 percent of the 405 agencies that utilize surveys by Press Ganey, the nationwide leader in health care satisfaction measurement and improvement. The scores were for questionnaires returned between July 1, 2007, and Sept. 30, 2007. While Home Health has consistently been in the upper 90th percentile, this latest rating means that patients responded “very good” on nearly every question on the survey.
“Our strength is our team,” said Cindy Senger, director of Home Health. The Home Health program offers nursing, physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, medical social worker, aide, and homemaker services to patients of all age groups, from infants and children with special care needs to geriatric patients affected by acute or chronic conditions who can safely be cared for in their homes.
“Health care in the community is so important, and we can provide a broad range of health care and support services to people of all ages in the comfort of their own homes. Besides providing direct patient care, Home Health professionals can teach families what they need to know so they can properly care for a family member at home,” Senger said.
