How does the Creighton Model FertilityCare™ System work? Here is information on this natural way of family planning:

Family Planning

Creighton Model FertilityCare™ System (CrMS) is a safe and natural way of family planning. It requires no drugs, no surgery, and involves no artificial products or devices. It works by external body observations by the woman to determine fertile and infertile days. By planning around these observations, the couple can determine the times to achieve or avoid pregnancy. CrMS should not be confused with the calendar Rhythm Method, which is based on a woman’s past monthly cycle lengths and cannot account for irregularities. CrMS, however, determines fertility on a day-by-day basis.

The daily observations are independent of the woman’s cycles, so CrMS can be used successfully after childbirth, during breastfeeding, and also during irregular, long, or short cycles and all the way through menopause.

Infertility and Gynecologic Health

Our infertility and gynecologic health assessment is conducted with the use of NaProTECHNOLOGY® (Natural Procreative Technology). This new reproductive science works cooperatively with the woman’s natural procreative cycle to address sub-fertility states, recurrent miscarriage, ovarian cysts, irregular bleeding, hormone disorders and many other women's health conditions. It is based upon identifying your own unique fertility patterns by monitoring and charting external body symptoms.

This moral and cost-effective approach is highly successful, as it gives the couple a specific time in which pregnancy is most likely to occur, as well as seeking to identify the underlying cause for infertility conditions and focusing treatment on restoring the body’s normal reproductive function, allowing conception to happen naturally.

Effectiveness

Method effectiveness is 99.5% for couples wanting to avoid a pregnancy. In those wanting to achieve pregnancy, 90% will become pregnant by only their third cycle.

For couples experiencing infertility, with the use of CrMS only, success rates between 20% and 40% can be expected. With a cooperative medical approach to treatment, success rates of up to 80% have been observed (rates vary with different medical conditions).

Avera St. Luke’s program is accredited through the American Academy of FertilityCare™ Professionals (AAFCP).

Sessions

With CrMS, individuals identify days of fertility and infertility by NaProTracking (charting) their menstrual cycles. Following an introductory session, individualized follow-up sessions (at 2, 4, 6, 8, 12 weeks, and 6, 9, and 12 months) teach couples to be actual users of the FertiltiyCare™ System and allow them to quickly develop confidence in what they have charted.

Program Fees

  • Introductory Session: $20
  • Program Materials: $25
  • Follow-up Fee: $100 (includes first eight follow-ups)
  • Additional Follow-ups: $15
