Men can take advantage of various screenings and classes offered through Avera St. Luke's:
- Prostate screenings are offered annually in the fall to males age 40 and older for only $20. The screenings consist of a physical prostate exam, a prostate specific antigen (PSA) blood test, a nurse consultation and educational materials. Call the Education Department at 605-622-5588 for more information.
- Free blood pressure screenings are offered six times monthly in Aberdeen:
*First Tuesday: The Homestead, 9 to 10 a.m.
*First Thursday: Fifth Avenue Apartments, 1 to 2 p.m.; Sherman Apartments, 2 to 3 p.m.
*Second Wednesday: Bicentennial Apartments, 9:30 to 10:30 a.m.
*Third Tuesday: Aberdeen Area Senior Center, 12:30 to 1:30 p.m.
*Fourth Wednesday: Avera Mother Joseph Manor, 1 to 2 p.m.
- Take Heart screenings are offered in the fall and spring. For only $25, participants will be screened for five risk factors: blood pressure, height/weight/body mass index, cholesterol, glucose and smoking. Call the Education Department at 605-622-5588 for more information.
